| Annie Marguerite Cox was my grandmother, a.k.a. "Nana." She passed away in 1990. I could fill page upon page telling you all the wonderful things about her because, well, everyone loves their grandmother, right?! I could tell you about how she was a tremendous mentor in my life; how she raised six children alone working as a waitress; about her strength and independence and compassion. I could tell you about how she fought cancer tooth and nail to the very end and remained a woman of grace and dignity even in the shadow of death. I could tell you how she blesses me with Angel Whispers. I'd love to share all of this and more. But, I created this page for a specific purpose.... This is my way of honoring Nana and continuing her legacy. My uncle, Don Cox, started "The Marguerite Cox Family Memorial Fund" in 2002 as a tribute to Nana and her undying commitment to her children and their education. Indeed, she left a watermark that is now being carried on by some 40+ children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She never gave up. All alone and on tip money she made sure that every single one of her children received the highest level of education they desired and fulfilled their dreams. They, in turn, passed the torch. It is a story worth telling. We have all gone on to become a strong and resolute family of educators, federal government employees, entrepreneurs, athletes, corporate executives and even a doctor. You name it; we don't give up. The sky's the limit, and Nana is there watching from above! *smiles* We are pooling our own funds and spreading the word. I am so very proud to say that through the College of Southern Maryland we will soon be issuing college scholarships in the name of Marguerite Cox.
